Meat Loaf or Shepard's Pie or Chili

July 11, 2022 - Written by Dorothy "Louise" Beasley

Any of these above meals work well when one is busy with life's callings and happenings, as life goes on day in and day out, regardless of what we are feeling or dealing with on a daily basis. I want to work on my website for the next 7 days to get it saved and published and looking like a semi-finished product by July 18, 2022.

I chose to take some Chili out of the freezer this morning, so we, my husband and I could eat Chili tonight for our evening meal since I have been on the computer all day, writing my life stories and adding media to the website, etc.... This Chili is something a friend of mine made for the annual Cattle branding we held at the end of June here in Manitoba. Turns out we had lots of food brought for that day, by my 3 daughter-in-laws plus my daughter, so the Chili was frozen to use later as needed.

Chili is a versatile meal containing brown and kidney beans, beef or turkey hamburger meat, tomato sauce, chili powder plus any other add in foods such as wieners, carrots to name a few different ingredients. Chili can easily be frozen up to 3 months and then thawed and warmed up to eat like fresh chili with bread or buns of your choice.

I could have chosen to make a Meatloaf or Shepard's pie as well, but the weather is not conducive to heating up the house today, as it is about 27 degrees Celsius with a high humidex too.

I will set up a cooking class to make the above meals, so you may freeze them just as I did and then you have a home cooked meal ready when your days get busy or it is hot outside and you don't feel like cooking and baking with a hot oven. A plate of any of these foods above can also be heated in a microwave or toaster oven or an instant hot pot set on Sauté for 8 minutes of heating.
